Dear TTP Exec Committee,
Happy Sunday!
The TTP events committee have been working hard in the background planning our Christmas events. We are very pleased to let you know that we will be hosting a Christmas tree lights switch on with Gary Mabbett MBE doing the honours at 4pm on Friday 24th November (High Rd, next to Blue Coats), followed by our main event, the community Christmas party on Saturday 16th December, 12-7pm on Scotland Green.
This event will build on our summer success and see us hosting a craft market, food stalls, Santa’s grotto, kids area, live entertainment and community gift swap. The TTP will also have a stall where we can promote our businesses and community initiatives and there is scope for any of your businesses to take part, whether that be a stall or display.
Through November and during this event, we will be raising funds for the Antwerp Arms Association Christmas Appeal (AAA). The AAA are doing vital work in our community by raising funds for food vouchers that will be allocated to the families most in need in N17, to enable them to buy groceries over the Christmas period. Last year the appeal raised just over £1k so this year, with the help of the TTP, we’d like to double this. I’m sure we can all agree that this is a really worthwhile cause and hope that we can exceed our target. You can find out more about the AAA and the appeal here: https://tinyurl.com/5ezac385
We need to raise at least £4k to cover the cost of the Christmas events and to contribute a sizeable donation to the AAA Christmas Appeal thereafter. How much we donate will depend on how much we raise as we’d like to cover the cost of the Christmas events, retain around £1k in the TTP coffers and donate the rest to the AAA appeal. This is where YOU, our wonderful TTP Committee members come in.
The costs for the two events are estimated to be around £4k. We managed to raise just under £1k from the summer party and Haringey have donated £1k to help with costs, so we are half way there already, however, to ensure we have met all costs, made a donation, and have money in the bank for future activities, we are asking all exec members to raise/donate (at least) £250 each. This can either be a straight donation from yourself/your business, or you can reach out to any other businesses/organisations/individuals that you know to help raise your £250 target. We know that this is a considerable amount to ask for, especially in these difficult times, but we do hope that through our business community, we can to make it happen.
Tottenham Stadium have very kindly donated a signed first-team Tottenham Hotspur shirt as well as 4 tickets to The Dare Skywalk, and so, by making a donation, you’ll automatically be entered into a draw for these wonderful prizes. Additionally, ALL businesses that donate will have their logo proudly displayed on the 4 banners that will be positioned around the Christmas tree on the High Rd, thanking our sponsors (YOU!). The tree will be in position for nearly 6 weeks, so its great advertising.
We kindly ask that you make your donation by Wednesday 15th November. This can go straight to the new TTP bank account:
Tottenham Traders Partnership
Sort code:23-05-80
Account number: 50391094
Please ref your ‘business name/xmas’
PLEASE ALSO REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR LOGO (and any other businesses who contributed) TO: susan@thenailgroup.co.uk so your logo can be added to the Christmas tree banners.
If you’d like to help with organising the Christmas events, with fundraising for the appeal, or if you would like to have a stall at the Christmas event, then please email sarah@bar6group.com to register your interest – it will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance for your donations and support!

1a. Introductions by all present - Review of Beyonce Concert, TTP delivery and general updates
DK mentioned that broadly speaking there has been 241,000 people who came in the five days
which was a net positive for Tottenham. Logistics-wise it will never be perfect for all businesses, but
it’s an unbelievable stat post-COVID. DK also talked of the need to make use of the opportunities this
presented. EO said that being given the Beyonce tickets as a business (TDU women’s’ organisation)
was great in terms of community initiative, partnership and changing the narrative about
Tottenham. MN questioned whether the ballot and allocations of tickets could have been offered
evenly to the traders of the TTP and whether this could be considered for future events. Also, that
local businesses suffered because locals did not come out due to road closures and heavy influx of
population for the concert (and referred to the Events Charter that had identified this as an issue).
MN enquired as to the selection process for businesses that were awarded the BeyGood Foundation
grant (Chuku’s were successful with their application). EF (owner of Chuku’s) highlighted that the
selection was not directly related to THFC/TTP/HC to their business being awarded £8,000, as it was
something that they had applied for via the BeyGood Foundation website. DK commented the Club
had no direct involvement with the process.
- NFL 2023 Strategy
JM & MB wanted to know how businesses can work with NFL for better outcomes as feedback from
previous events suggested that it has not benefited local businesses as much as was expected.
Businesses mentioned receiving publicity posters late as well as stickers being rather small to display
in their business shop windows. AM said that it would be nice to have resources that businesses can
use that would help them advertise the businesses better as previous materials have not been of
much benefit. JM suggested that they can offer training sessions, provide literature about the game
and share information in advance to support businesses. There can also be a player appearance as
ambassadors to help create more engagement. JM & MB offered training opportunity which can be
delivered to TTP members. The next event with NFL will take place in October.
ACTIONS
TTP events team to engage with NFL and DK to identify next steps (by end of August). - Opportunity Haringey
GM spoke about economic plans with stakeholders, the impact of COVID, and the cost-of-living crisis
all having negative issues on the economy. GM identified three key areas of focus fairer, greener and
building on the strength of the people. EO mentioned that it’s great to see a mirroring of objectives;
however, there needs to be more representation of those involved to establish commitment that
determines what’s taking place locally. GM made reference to developing an internal charter to
bring about business charter that would form the basis of an agreement to work in partnership
between THFC, the TTP, and the council. He also requested an update of the TTP Strategy, so that he
and his team could check to see that both were aligned.
ACTIONS
TTP to review and revise strategy, ready to present at next TTP meeting (CAO, GJ)
TTP events team to engage with NFL on next steps
Review of draft charter to present at next TTP meeting (DK, GP, MN). - Your Bruce Grove programme update
OH talked about the focus of the project around area to the east of Tottenham High Road, including
improvements to Stoneleigh Road, alleyways, and pedestrian paths in the area to make them safer,
greener, and more pedestrian friendly. Also, the expansion of Holcombe Market and creation of
space for community events and activities as well as the delivering of and new affordable homes
/workspace for local businesses. MN and CL talked about the need to work together more, CL
wanted to see planning to be more collective and far-reaching from beginning (as it “used to be”).
AH wanted there to be coordination from one department to another within the Haringey Council.
MN asked for Haringey Council to consult those with over 45 years’ experience and TTP members.
Actions
Howard Medick and MN to meet to discuss questions arising from this meeting (MN)
TTP members to attend YBG workshops on 27 and 31 July. - Update of TTP Strategy
CAO & GJ presented TTP Strategy for 2023 and beyond with rebranding of TTP to showcase
collective voice of business owners who represent the businesses in Tottenham in creating a safer,
more connected community for business to thrive. Establishing clear and specific goals for TTP which
is a key objective. GJ outlined TTP developing set of key indicators particularly within the next 12
months. TTP wants to foster positive and strong partnerships with Haringey Council and Tottenham
Hotspur. CAO outlined the TTP aim to encourage investment within Tottenham. Approach to
advocate for Tottenham includes PESTLE analysis framework including safety emphasis, lifestyle
attitudes, cultural behaviours, foot flow within the area. Technology incentives, advertisements for
businesses, technology awareness. How to reengage with those who are digitally disenfranchised,
Greener spaces, eco-friendliness within the Tottenham charter. The aim is for all of the above to be
incorporated into the Tottenham charter. GM requested that the strategy be internally agreed by
the TTP Executive Committee and finalised prior to the next TTP meeting and sent to him in advance.

JH updated that a new officer was due to be starting shortly in the Tottenham Hale
ward, and that the officer would be invited to the next TTP meeting. He also highlighted
that businesses needed to report instances of crime, as by reporting incidents more
frequently, would mean that the police can allocate more resource towards specific
areas of Tottenham.
Crime can be reported via the Met’s website.
EO stated that the TTP should focus on the issue of Violence Against Women and Girls
(VAWG), as there are a number of vulnerable women and young people working across
Tottenham. The group agreed that this should be a priority within the forthcoming
strategy work, and that EO should lead. EO subsequently opined that there should be a
workshop held by the TTP and delivered in partnership with the police and council. All
agreed that this should take place. JH stated that he and the local police would support,
and GP would invite relevant council officers to the discussion.
CAO raised the issue of gambling, and that recent licencing requests from some casinos
such as GameNation and Admiral in the Tottenham High Road showed that the issue
would not go away, and that there should be some leadership from the council in terms
of publicly stating its policy and ensuring that ASB issues are dealt with swiftly. GP
agreed to invite relevant officers to a future meeting.
GP updated that the Business Crime Partnership (BCRP) work was underway and an
update from NTES will be forthcoming at the next meeting. - Events (Sarah Holgate and Susan Nguyen)
SH highlighted the planned King’s Coronation celebration at Scotland Green on Sunday
7 May. There will be live music, entertainment, market stalls, hot food stalls from local
businesses, and face painting. SH and SN would also seek relevant licencing and
highway permissions and liaise with the residents’ association.
PLR stated that it would be beneficial for there to be a West Green Road event also,
under the TTP banner. It was agreed for PLR to develop the application with support
from SH and SN.
- TTP Accounts – (Chair and Anne McGregor)
The Chair had contacted the former Chair, Christine (now at Metro Bank) in an effort to
resolve the situation of the TTP having no access to the bank account. However, the
bank account is still residing with Barclays and no-one can access it. It was agreed that
a new account should be open at another bank to enable event sponsorship to be
raised, and continue to attempt to retrieve the monies at a later date. - AOB – (Chair)
No AOB was presented.
Meeting Closed: 20:15.
